From a study that we conducted, we found most people who suffer hearing loss were continuously exposed to sounds that range over 75dB. Now that we are forced to get exposed to louder sounds, some damage control must be done and following are our suggestions on how you can keep your ear health intact, especially from noises:
- Use ear muffs:
Especially for worksmen in the industries, where they are exposed to higher sound frequencies.
- 60:60 rule listening to music on headset:
Make sure you listen to music not more than 60 minutes continuously, at 60% of the maximum volume!
- Do not honk:
Make sure you don’t honk in traffic. Loud horns are one of the biggest enemies to hearing!
- Use headphones to listen to music:
It is suggested to use old model (muff type) headphones instead of earbud type of headsets, as it reduces the intensity of background noises.
- Have hearing detox:
It requires 15 hours relaxation to your ears after a two hour exposure to loudness in a club. Reducing this recovery period might result in deafness.
